National Children's Science Congress

About us

VICAS is the state coordinating body for the National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) in Uttar Pradesh. Launched in 1993 under NCSTC, DST, Government of India, NCSC encourages scientific thinking among children through project-based learning. Participants, guided by a mentor, work in teams on projects addressing local issues using simple scientific methods. Open to children aged 10 to 17 years, the program is divided into junior (10-14 years) and senior (14-17 years) groups, promoting hands-on scientific exploration.

What we do

NCSC is a research based project activity prompts children to ponder upon some significant societal problem, think over its causes and subsequently try and solve the same using scientific process. This involve close and keen observation, raising pertinent questions, data collection through observation, survey or using experimentation, field work, research and innovative ideas and basis of data analysis, trying out various possible alternatives and arriving at an optimum solution and conclusion. NCSC encourages a sense of discovery of child scientists.
